Two sisters find it easy to get lost in their own thoughts and wishes in the big city. Things seem fine, yet they want to put life on pause, at least until September, and go back to the place of their childhood. The overgrown walls of the old house shut out the world and its many questions, and grandmother Teia asks nothing but is always there. Summer does not stop time, though: people from former, present and future lives turn up on the doorstep. Everyone in the house, the sisters, their grandmother, an Indian cousin, their bewildered mother and even a nameless ginger cat, stands on the threshold of change, while pumpkins grow for export and problems and decisions race each other.
