Butterfly

Plum Coyle, who would rather be called Aria, is nearly fourteen and sure that her birthday will make her someone new. Until then she hoards treasured objects in a case hidden beneath her bed, hates her changing body and lives in fear of the girls in her group, who tease and test her and are ready to drop her. Her neighbour Maureen, beautiful, sophisticated and in her thirties, takes her under her wing and seems to have an answer for everything, but Maureen is in love with Plum's brother Justin and her own suburban life is coming apart. Meanwhile Plum's adored older brothers, Justin and Cydar, court disaster in worlds she hardly knows.
