Vlad Jivan runs an obscure publishing house in Timișoara in 2011 and is a hero of the 1989 revolution. He does good business with a former Securitate man from Bucharest, plays basketball and drinks beer with friends, arguing about the Gypsy mafia, the “invasion” of people from Oltenia and, half in jest, the secession of the Banat. His past holds secrets he keeps even from his wife, Emilia, the darkest linked to a trip with his parents to Split, in Yugoslavia, in 1989. When Emilia persuades him to holiday in Croatia, he meets his Croatian friends again, scarred by a war of secession, and has to face what he has hidden.
