The Guard

Deep under a forty-storey residential tower for the very rich, Harry and Michel stand guard at the one gate into the building, its basement car park, ready to shoot at any moment. They serve a mysterious employer they call only the organisation, follow its rules without question and dream of climbing its ranks. Then every tenant but one moves out, and down below nobody explains anything. Has war broken out? Has there been a radiation accident, or poison gas in the streets? Sealed off from the city, the two men cling to procedure, invent their own theories, and little by little begin to see each other as competitors rather than partners.
