The Last Days of Ava Langdon

Ava Langdon, whose much-praised novel The Apple Pickers came out two decades ago, now lives as a recluse in the Blue Mountains with her typewriter and two pet rats. She dresses as a man, carries a machete and talks to the townspeople in French. Still a fearless writer, she spends her days chasing the perfect sentence and imagining other people's inner lives, a singular figure both freed and confined by being different.
