With the kitchen, its furnishings and its utensils as their frame, these poems build a meditative world. Everyday objects we hardly give a thought, the washing-up brush, the bread knife, are seen afresh through an impersonal eye, and the simple tasks done in a kitchen open onto life and death, time and the present, the near and the cosmic.
