Kento has left the company that hired him after university and spends his days job hunting, studying for a licensing exam and pumping iron. At home he and his mother look after his grandfather, eighty-seven, officially in need of care yet in decent health, who grumbles daily that he would rather be dead. Worn down by it, Kento hits on a plan: by doing everything for the old man and denying him any effort, he will hasten his decline. As he rebuilds his own body and life while also dating his girlfriend Ami, he sees in his grandfather both a wish for death and a stubborn hold on life.
