Fresh from a trip abroad, Inspector Avraham Avraham of the Holon police is handed a fake bomb found in a case by a nursery school, and a witness saw a limping man run off. An anonymous woman then phones to say worse is coming. The nursery's teacher, it emerges, may have kept the call secret and may have been harsh with the toddlers. Meanwhile an ageing father, Haim Sara, brings up two boys by himself; his wife from the Philippines supposedly flew home to nurse her father, yet no airline ever carried her, and he seems to be preparing to run. Avraham, still tormented by the teenager he could not rescue in his last case, means to shield the vulnerable this time.
