Boa Morte da Silva, an old soldier, parks cars on Rua António Maria Cardoso in Lisbon; a girl lives close by on Rua do Loreto, by the 28 tram. They become friends, a chance grandfather and granddaughter. Between Lisbon and an imagined Bissau, he sorts through his past in letters to Aurora, a daughter he barely knows.
