Cordilheira

The Argentine edition of her acclaimed debut gives a Brazilian novelist an excuse to leave home for a while after a break-up and a friend's suicide. In Buenos Aires she is drawn to an enigmatic reader who admires her book and to his circle of eccentric companions, and in their company she starts to shed her old life without knowing what she is becoming. Telling it herself, she faces her own emotional depths in a story of loss and new attachments, and of how fiction can bleed into life.
