Michi Lucescu lives cut off from people and from life in a shabby attic room in an old house. He lets the flow of memory carry him along the corridors of an apartment building rooted in his childhood: a strange House with Lions, guarded by two stone lions and backing onto the Jewish cemetery, where he once lived with Princess Ralu, his theatrical mother, crushing as a force of nature. From it we see the grey Bucharest of the last communist decade and the motley one after the Revolution. Opening the doors of its eleven apartments, Michi enters old Bucharest cinemas and becomes both spectator and star of a film of failure and self-destruction, played out across centuries.
