Uma Delicada Coleção de Ausências

Laura is leaving childhood behind, and her grandmother Margarida, who tells fortunes at an antiques market to pay the bills, adores her, partly because the girl is all she has left of a daughter who no longer speaks to her. Their closeness ends when Filipa, Margarida's own mother, loses her home and fills their cramped rooms with boxes and resentment. Laura feels abandoned and unsettled by the old woman; Margarida, worn out by nursing her and by extra housework, leans on Camilo, a fellow stallholder, to keep her trade going.
