Three times, three worlds and three namesakes, each going through estrangement, unfulfilment and the unforeseen. A young Italian-Wallachian naval officer, trained in France, returns to Bucharest in the summer of 1835, summoned by his father for a secret political mission to Constantinople. A literature lecturer in Constanța in 2019, suddenly shut out of a rich emotional and intellectual life, discovers that writing has consequences. And the slave of the poet Ovid practises the beauties of Latin with his master in the last years of his exile at Tomis, on the edge of the civilised world. The three parts mirror one another like parallel mirrors.
