Charly Benz has stumbled through life for 43 years with unshakeable optimism. A long-term single, she works in marketing for a Berlin food company, lives on burnt croissants, chain-smokes and is too afraid of bad news to open her post. Her only friend is Mr Schabowski, a sixty-year-old who sorts her mail and her fears. Then he receives a fatal diagnosis, her first attempt at family constellation therapy ends in disaster, three men turn her life upside down at once, and she is pregnant. Charly and Schabowski decide to tackle their problems by running away, to an empty turn-of-the-century hotel in Bad Gastein that once belonged to her father.
