A dystopia. In the year 2040 Ukraine enters the era of temporal technology: scientists have found a way to manipulate biological time, using a special device to rejuvenate people or age them in an instant. The invention proves diabolical, since time can now be stolen, sold, exchanged, confiscated and hidden away for a rainy day, by any means and at the price of brutal crimes. Three decades on, nothing in the country has changed for the better: power is even more cynical and people even more defenceless. The plot reads like a collection of newspaper clippings, political scandals, corruption, gang killings and ecological disasters, now joined by a chrono-weapon said to turn a million people to mince in eight seconds.
