The novella is the monologue of a composer whose need to talk brings her to a therapist. The driving force of her life has been flight, from one situation to the next and from one place to another. The reader takes the place of the silent therapist and becomes the listener to what she tells herself: memories of childhood, of warm milk with a spoonful of honey that never helped her cough, and of the departure from Izmir, the whole flat packed into two big bags of cracked black and brown leatherette tied up with string at the airport. As an immigrant she lives behind the closed door of a borrowed room, searching for herself in her loneliness.
