Lichtjaren

A chance encounter, just days before Nils Groede is to receive his PhD in physics, revives his years with Hella Roukens, a pianist. He can recall that happy, magical period with total precision, apart from the face of the woman herself. Nils wanted to understand Hella entirely; the harder he studied her, the more she drifted away, and his compulsive watching robbed him of simply being there. The story moves between a music academy, a fencing club for students, an observatory and private recitals in rich households.
