In May 2017 the writer Stefan runs into Mathias 'Splendor' Johansson outside a Stockholm café. Splendor once belonged to Paradise, a cult with wildly inflated aims that took a psychedelic drug so that souls, memories and future would merge. Before long it is clear he knows of something in Stefan's life that Stefan himself has pushed away. Mixing autofiction with tall tale, the book is a black comedy and a spiritual picaresque, part mystery and part love story, that bores into the self, into grief and into nightmarish despair.
