Adam Teodor Vogrinski was once an internationally known musician with the band Veter in odmev, until his wife's suicide eight years ago sent him to rock bottom. To escape a difficult relationship with his father, he takes a job teaching music in the village of Gorenje Selo. The school is ruled at will by Karel Selan, headmaster and mayor in one, and by his untouchable grandson Edo, whose conjuring tricks drive the staff to despair. The misfit Adam discovers great musical talent in Edo but is slowly pushed out. When an inspection from Brussels is announced, Selan stages a spectacular event to hide the falsified school records, and two people from Adam's past with whom he has unfinished business turn up in the village.
