The playwright burned the first part of his diaries; this volume covers 1962 to 1969. Written in blood and bile, longing and anger, on restless nights and happy days, by hand and on the typewriter, in dozens of cities in many countries, the diary is private notes, close observation of the present and a chronicle of the age. It is also a laboratory between commentary and creation, where ideas hatch and sentences and whole literary or philosophical constructions take shape.
