Kyoko is thirty-six, Shunsuke almost forty, and six years of marriage have brought no child. He doubts love exists, yet clings to the idea of Kyoko as a mother and suggests a remedy that draws a second man in. A tense, fragile game among the three begins, in which something from their past returns in a form no one foresaw.
