February 1921: friends gather for dinner at the house of a brother and sister bound by an obscure love. Between talk, good food and long silences, each guest sinks into private abysses. When the evening ends, the host says he is going duck hunting, but he means to do something extreme, and first he leafs through notebooks holding his guests' stories of love and violence.
