The Lost Woman

Someone takes aim from the garden of an English house and kills the woman inside as she prepares the evening meal. She was Danish: Sofie, missing for eighteen years. In Copenhagen, investigator Louise Rick has a disappearance of her own to face, for Eik, her colleague and lover, popped out to buy cigarettes and never returned, his dog still tethered by the shop door. Eik had once worked on the search for Sofie. Flashbacks to 1996 show Sofie pleading with her incurably ill mother not to take her own life, and the case raises the question of assisted dying.
