Ali, a wounded young soldier on a mountaintop, recovers his hazy memory of a remote village in the coastal mountains. Through the stages of his life emerges a nation governed under the slogan 'the president is dead, long live the president', where under father and son wars start and end and generations' dreams go up in smoke.
