Omar is ten and spends his days at the window hoping his mother will come back: she has been gone too many days, and he no longer knows if she is alive. His brother rubs his nose against his cheek to tickle him but cannot console him. Only Nada calms him, holding his hand: eleven, with sky-blue eyes and a vein on her forehead that throbs when she is angry. During the war in the former Yugoslavia, inspired by a true story, the lives of a girl and two boys who have lost everything are swept away from home, and without even knowing it they end up saving each other's lives, in a story of separation and of being children and parents.
