A brother and sister in their twenties live together in Auckland. He, a physicist turned TV travel host who has OCD, still pines for his former boyfriend Xabi, who once drove a ute around Auckland and now drives one around Buenos Aires. She tutors English while studying for a postgraduate degree and has fallen for Holly, a colleague who mostly wants her help with admin and mangles their surname. Through bad dates, Tinder, buses and karaoke, the pair muddle through modern romance and the minor dramas and secrets of their eccentric Māori-Russian-Catalonian relatives, and when a job takes him to Argentina, he has a chance to see Xabi again.
