Thomas, a German family therapist, has to put his life in order. In New York he meets the woman he has been with for years, but the relationship is over. On the way back, on the subway from Brooklyn to the airport and his flight to Munich, he loses himself in the past. Again and again his thoughts circle around the dramatic events of the past months, which, like his love, now seem impossibly far away: every stage of failure, missed chances and false expectations at the heart of their fragile relationship. He arrived a stranger, and a stranger he goes home.
