Екстазис

Mikhail has no proof that he ever lived: unlike us, he has never cried, scalded his lips on hot soup, fallen from a cherry tree or blown on a dandelion. He works for the one who created everything, gathering and storing the last breaths of the dying, in a place with no memories, feelings or names. He has worked out why his employer wants them, and he means to tell. Then something happens even there that changes the rules for ever, raising the question of what can defeat death and confound the creator himself. Told by this invisible collector, the novel brings death and love, melancholy and irony, fear and consolation together, and sets one gripping personal story among other people's stories of endings.
