A young woman from Poland goes to Switzerland with her boyfriend to see the world, make money and escape a life of nothing much. Wika ends up in a decaying residence on Lake Geneva where only two women live, a mother and a daughter, helping with housework and caring for the ageing Shirley. The three women meet just as their lives are changed by events none of them could have been ready for.
