Abyss

Claudia's childhood in Cali seems as ordinary and carefree as any other. From the family flat she watches her parents' strained marriage with sharp eyes: her mother's scorn and reckless confidences, her father's bitterness and stubborn silence. She tries to make sense of the world around her by guessing at and interpreting what is never said, or said only in part, until someone from outside breaks the household's balance and life turns into something else. Around the family lies a narrow world of well-off women still bound by an old-fashioned upbringing.
