Three stories about boys facing the start of life. In 'Boxe', the Dancer, a well-mannered boy who has become a legend in the ring with his dragonfly lightness, is drawn towards a fight with the Goat, a poor, deaf champion who climbs towards victory the way goats climb ravines. In 'Cavalli', two brothers are each given a horse by their father, and with it their destinies: one leaves for the city in search of adventure, the other stays, until an open wound brings them side by side again. In 'La scimmia', a friend who always seemed richer and luckier suddenly decides he is a monkey, and his delirium clings to the narrator like a double.
