Maryam Hayati was born into a faith her neighbours call heresy and has been treated as deviant all her life. Her marriage is sacrificed to faith and love, and people invoking God drive her family from their village and wreck their home. By January 2011 she and several hundred fellow believers have spent seven years crowded into a small government building on Lombok that serves as a refugee camp. The houses they once bought with their own money, then won back with great effort after an earlier expulsion, still stand, burned and broken. They want only to go home, repair them with their own hands, live in safety and let the past go without revenge. They plead for justice and wonder how much longer they must wait.
