Козидор

Kozidor was ninety-four in 2004, rich enough to own a great empire and a hotel named after him, and in no hurry to die. Each time he lands in hospital his heirs hold their breath, hoping for their share at last and praying only that the rain stops before the funeral. This time, too, a routine change of his battery sends him home. From his limousine he watches the soaked passers-by, then scatters his entourage with a sweep of his cane and walks alone into the lobby of his beloved hotel. The story is told with a light, comic touch.
