ملمس الضوء

Noura, the narrator, is blind. An app recognises old family photographs and describes them to her, and from each picture she tells the story of the people in it. Through her family's lives the novel follows the Gulf's past, Dubai before oil and Bahrain in the first years after its discovery, while the reader slowly enters the world of the blind.
