Уточиште

The narrator is a woman on the threshold of middle age, comfortably settled and yet caught in a life trap behind the thick walls of a Novi Sad family house: a husband as cold to her as she is to him, a mother who scorns her, torn memories of her father, the only person she truly loved and understood, and a sick child whom her husband and mother have all but taken from her. In a monologue that zigzags through time, she decides at one point to follow a slight, perhaps imagined hint of escape through a relationship with a seemingly interested stranger.
