A comic novel about Bulgarians who have settled in California and built a little Bulgaria of their own, Nashington, somewhere near Hollywood and Beverly Hills, with home-made rakia, salad and yoghurt. Gosho, Tosho, Sasho and Rasho, friends since their army days, chase the American dream while homesickness gnaws at them. Rather than adapt to American laws and habits, they bend them to themselves: Gosho grows Bulgarian tomatoes in his backyard and buys a lamb at a pet shop to roast on St George's Day, Tosho wins eating contests, and Rasho has a pacemaker that beeps whenever he reaches for a cigarette or a glass of rakia.
