In the summer of 1965 Lucia and Giuseppe arrive in Rome with their eight-month-old daughter. They are in love, but cannot shake the unease of people being hunted: Lucia has fled a violent husband she was forced to marry, and under the law of the time their life together is a crime. They leave the baby in the park of Villa Borghese and then take their own lives. More than fifty years later that child, now a poet, goes back to the places where her mother lived, worked and loved, from rural Molise to the outskirts of Milan in the boom years, and with the help of old newspaper reports reconstructs their story.
