In summer 1999 Marta, a student who has fallen behind after a period of illness and instability, joins Professor Marković's research team in Drenje, a remote village in Baranja. No other professor would take her on, so she is to spend two months there for her thesis, working on his project about how the war changed the soundscape of eastern Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem. But every recording carries an unidentified electronic noise, a sound that seems to watch over the whole ecosystem, as if the war had only been the beginning of another kind of aggression. What was meant to be fieldwork based on facts slowly turns into a search for something mysterious, otherworldly and frightening.
