An ordinary literature professor in an ordinary city teaches Chiara, a naive, sincere student who writes clumsy New Age stories. The meeting of these two distant normal lives sets off something terrible, a horror that turns into outrage at a violence so common it has become invisible, and into revolt against fashionable doctrines.
