A sequence of linked stories presents women in today's Sweden, named Amanda, Annie, Ellinor, Eva, Jenny, Liselotte, Malin, Matilda, Märta, Olga, Rawia, Ruta and Simone. They try to put up with their bodies and to figure out how life should be lived. Each watches the others and is watched, hopes and yearns, and pays close attention to silences while trying to decode words. They crave connection desperately yet find it exhausting once they have it. Paring away everyday clutter, the book captures moments where lives fork.
