Four years after she was believed dead, Tokiko's best friend Asahi calls her. Tokiko has missed her terribly and is thrilled, and when Asahi says she has nowhere to live, Tokiko takes her in, until Asahi has quietly settled into the house. Asahi, who once felt the world would be better without her, is both dear and a burden, and the bond between them begins to knot.
