Makoto is raised by his mother alone on a big housing estate. As a small child he once glimpsed a stray dog with an uncanny presence, and ever since he has walked the estate every day looking for it. At the lookout on his usual route he meets Kuga in junior high. Makoto has no friends and lives for his computer, and Kuga suggests they make a game together, something only they could create.
