Jeong-hae and Yeong-gi cannot let things pass: wherever they notice disorder they say so, and the neighbourhood has come to treat the couple as busybodies to watch. The cold looks wear them down, and they promise each other to stop meddling in matters that do them no good and that nobody welcomes, and to think only of themselves. It is a promise they cannot keep. On a bitter winter day they spot small children out in the freezing cold, apparently unattended, and with no proof and no tie to the family they decide at once to call the police. Behind their urge to step in lies an old guilt over the attention they failed to give their own daughter, Ho-gyeong, as the story probes the line between doing right by strangers and intruding on their lives.
