De revue

Long ago the narrator worked the lights at a revue and lost his heart to Zwiep, a dancer whose speech was full of invented words he never learned to understand. The affair ended badly, but she stayed with him. Now, twenty-five years on, an invitation to a reunion sends him back into the past. He wants to know what she shared with the director she would never discuss, and why the man's addresses were for performers' ears only.
