Little has changed in Smalånger. A woman called Maria is dead, someone is drinking himself into the grave, and the home-care service has hired Jana Kippo, back in the north to be near her twin. As a girl she stabbed her own father with a hayfork. Coming home in this bleak, empty landscape brings the cruelty of their childhood back to the surface, in a tale of love, violence and the difficulty of forgiving.
