Split in early autumn 2022: the last tourists are leaving and the city is getting ready for its winter sleep. Ines Runjić is due for a Sunday shift at a hotel in the centre; her mother Katja, a cleaner who holds the family together, is fretting over a neighbour who is turning the building's shared space into a holiday flat. Inspector Zvone Carev is called to a derelict PVC factory, where a schoolgirl, Viktorija Zeba, only child of a respected doctor, has been found dead. Pressed by public anger, the media and the family's powerful friends, the police rush to find the killer, while Katja and Ines must live with what Katja's son has done, in a city whose industry was lost in the transition.
