Written during two seasons the author spent in San Francisco in 2010, the novel is a record of a stay that keeps drifting. Its narrator, the writer himself, recalls a trip five years earlier to see a former girlfriend, then living in Los Angeles with her current boyfriend: tequila every day, shooting at agaves at her cabin in the empty plains, putting scorpions out of the house, climbing hills or doing nothing. On a whim he left them and stayed some days in San Francisco because he liked the fog, meeting a hobo in Washington Square and imagining American Indians. There is no plot, only his idle, deliberately useless musings, where fact and fancy sit side by side.
