A former factory hand, jobless for years and marked with a tattooed teardrop of God, nurses a grudge against a world that has blurred the old enmities. Others around him tend their own lonely lives, among them Kari, who produces websites, his wife, a sociologist, and the financial adviser Lari and his filmmaker sister Laura, until death draws them together.
