In January 2016, thirty-one-year-old Jonathan gets a fever that will not go away: low, constant and exhausting, chilling him when he goes out and making him sweat at night. He waits, has tests, searches the internet for diagnoses and becomes convinced he has an incurable disease, until the HIV test reveals the truth: he is HIV-positive, not dying, and almost relieved. From that day he takes us back to the start of his story in Rozzano, the tough southern outskirts of Milan, a place of addicts, workers and families from the south, where no one leaves, and to a childhood raised by grandparents, stammering, bookish and gay.
