Andżelika, Patryk and Kalinka have vanished from Wałbrzych without trace. In the dense late-autumn gloom, a prophet claims Our Lady of Sorrows takes them, and frightened residents accuse at random. Alicja Tabor, a reporter, returns from Warsaw to the town of her childhood to write about them, and finds the past waiting in her old family home. To change her life she must face her own traumas too.
